Houston Astros get their first win of the season!

Houston starting pitcher Wandy Rodriguez got roughed up, but, thankfully, so did San Diego Padres starter Greg Maddux. The Professor, who’s been largely successful against Houston in his career, gave up six hits (three of them home runs) and three earned runs in six innings of work as the Astros rallied in the ninth inning to win 9-6. Houston was down to their final out in the ninth when Lance Berkman belted a three-run homer to help turn a 6-5 loss into a 9-6 victory. Geoff Blum, Ty Wigginton and Carlos Lee also went deep for Houston.

This afternoon (this blog was posted before the start of the game) Houston will try to close up the series with a split.
